As with any non-profit organization, the Triangle Down Syndrome Network is always in need of volunteers, sponsors, and donations.
Volunteers
We have many events throughout the year which require volunteer support: teen dances, a golf tournament, the Buddy Walk, the spring picnic, the holiday party, and many more. Please join our volunteer corps by completing our online volunteer contact form at www.TriangleDownSyndrome.OrgAction.com. When new volunteer oppotunities come up, you will be notified and will be able to see what volunteer tasks are required and shifts are available.
Sponsors
Sponsors are recruited for many of our events. Our main events are the Buddy Walk and the Golf Tournament. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact the office at 919-803-0515or email TDSNMail@TriangleDownSyndrome.org.
Donations
We opened our office in 2009 and are still in need of several items:
- laptop computers with built-in wireless capability
- work tables
- small cabinet(s)
- end table for lobby
- books related to Down syndrome for our lending library
Financial Contributions
Financial contributions are welcome at any time, either by check or by using the link at the bottom of the page. You can also make one-time or recurring contributions using your CapitalOne card via their CapitalOne No Hassle Giving Site.
During the Buddy Walk fundraiser, you can register to participate and collect donations or you can sponsor a participant by visiting the website.
Organize a "Dress Down for Down Syndrome" Day at your School or Office
TDSN encourages all businesses and organizations to help promote the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome by "Dressing Down" at work. Anytime is a great time for a "Dress Down For Down Syndrome" fundraiser, which can be held anytime throughout the year but is often held in association with Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October or World Down Syndrome Day on or around March 21st.
Participating in this campaign is a great way to encourage team building within your organization, energize your workforce, and boost morale, while helping families in your community. For a small contribution to TDSN, participants are permitted to wear casual clothing when they might otherwise wear business attire, along with a sticker that our organization provides.
For more information on how to organize a "Dress Down for Down Syndrome" Day at your place of business, please contact us at (919) 803-0515.
Passive Fundraising
You can help support TDSN without writing a check or pulling out your wallet.
- Apply for and use a TDSN CapitalOne Visa Card. 2% of grocery and gas purchase and 1% of all other purchases are donated back to TDSN by CapitalOne and TDSN also receives $50 for each card after it is used for the first time.
- Use the GoodSearch search engine as your default homepage for all your internet searches and and designate TDSN to receive money each time you search. It doesn't sound like much but if all our members did that, we'd make over $4000 a year.
- Use the GoodShop portal for all your internet shopping. You can access many shopping websites including Ebay, Target, Sears, Overstock.com, Amazon and some merchants will donate up to 30% of your purchase back to TDSN. Download the GoodShop toolbar for Internet Explorer and Firefox to alert you when you're on a website that participates in their program and if there are any additional coupon savings for you.
- The www.DownSyndromeFootprint.com website will donate 10% of the proceeds of your purchases to TDSN if you use the promo code "triangle" at check-out. They have many items with a signature Down syndrome footprint logo on them -- very cute!
